This mushroom culture originated from the Albright Grove, the only Old Growth Forest in North Carolina. Pinsets are beige and fade to tan/white. Spores are white/grey.
Our Oyster sawdust spawn is intended for outdoor grower's planning on making mushroom logs or wood chip beds. Expect fruitbodies to emerge from logs the year after inoculation in May and again in the late summer/early fall depending on climate. Alternatively, the bags can be opened by making a one inch "X" or "T" cut in the side of the bag and a mushroom should emerge in 4-8 days if kept in a cool and moist environment. It will fully mature in about a week. This grow kit can produce up to a lb of mushrooms and still be used as mushroom spawn after the harvest.
Grain spawn bags are intended for indoor or outdoor growers. For indoor growers the 4 lb bag of grain spawn can inoculate approximately 100 lbs of supplemented sawdust, fully colonizing the substrate in approximately 8 days. For outdoor growers, a hot or cold pasteurization of the substrate can be done to prepare a fruiting vessel (tubs or buckets work well). Alternatively, inoculating freshly cut debris can be a great way to accelerate the decomposition of fibrous yard waste back to healthy soil.
Spawn orders are made to order. Expect a 3-4 week lead time before shipping. Spawn products require 2-day shipping and will not be shipped fully colonized due to the fast colonization rate, and early fruitbody development of this strain.
